Match Reports 11-11-18

This week’s match reports!

First up, from the wonderful 2nd team from yesterday:

Captain Alex Webb – It feels like a familiar story as the seconds lost 22-15 to Bristol city. Hopes were high following a defeat of them in training a few weeks ago however unfortunately we were unable to replicate it. As always it took us a while to get going and by the time we did it was too late to claw it back (helped by some smart shooting by them in the final 5 mins to flatter them with the score). Special thanks to everyone who came down to support and Samuel Luke for shot clocking. Special mention goes to MVP Adam Mason with 5 goals! Seconds will keep fighting and we will have news of our first win of the season soon! Also thanks to Jake Cooper for coaching!!

Next up from the 4s today:

Captain Anna Howbrook – The game started well with us getting off the mark first, but Uni were going for the long shots which somehow went in 90% of the time and they quickly took a lead leaving it 6-2 at half time. A much stronger second half performance with shot after shot rolling off the rim thunder quickly gained back some ground with some sneaky moves and persistent play.

Unfortunately for us uni still had their eyes in with some cracking longshots and although we won the second half it wasn’t quite enough! Lots of positives and plenty to work on! Super well played by all! MVP Lewis Ratcliffe and Sammy Moore!

And last but most certainly not least, the 3s game from this afternoon!!

VC Tom Franks had this to say – Thunder 3 set a SWKA record today with a 37-3 victory against Gloucester 2! It was a fantastic team performance with the goals spread throughout. Special mentions to Anthea Jasmine who was shooting brilliantly and scored 7 goals, and Ben Smith for his great coaching. Unfortunately the victory was marred by Mollie Matilda-Jane injuring her knee by jumping almost as high as she is tall and I’m sure we are all thinking of her as she’s currently sat in A&E (fact check, she may have now left). Thunder 3 play Exeter 3 next week who have already lost to Gloucester 2 so let’s try and beat our record again!
